A couple of Purple Sandpipers showed up at Tommy Thompson Park on Saturday, Nov 12 and was earnestly reported by Kris Ito, one of the moderators of this website. I ended up going there the following day around noon and was told of a lone bird at the same general location. I pedaled hard my folding bike with 20" wheel and managed to get there just as the bird popped out in the open. I sat down and kept watching him coming closer and closer until my camera couldn't focus any more. It eventually sat beside a rock, did some preening and then rested for a while. Here are couple of shots of this not so common visitor.

Beautiful shots of a good species. I have yet to see one but may head down to Presqu'ile in between the hunting days as there is a reported 3 on Gull island. Should be able to walk out with the current water levels.
