Lots of robins

At the corner of Bowden and Wolfrey (in Riverdale), we saw several trees filled with perhaps 30-40 robins.  There wasn't any obvious fruit or berries around, so not sure why they were gathered in such numbers.

This morning between 9:30am and 12:30pm I had upwards of 120 Robins fly over and through the backyard.  Many landed briefly in the surrounding trees, some landed on the ground while others landed on the fence.  A few even went as far as to take advantage of a drink from my heated bird bath.

Also of note, I had roughly 40 Cedar Waxwings fly at tree-top level over the yard while I was out shoveling the snow.

As all of these birds were flying from the east I can't help but wonder if this may have been storm related movement.

If that wasn't enough, I also watched as an Iceland Gull circled for an hour or so low over Kingston Road with the usual garbage-hungry Ring-billed Gulls.  With dark sky out over the lake this bird looked stunning and stood out like a sore thumb!  Not a bad find from the comfort of my kitchen window if I do say so myself! :lol:

In the winter I sometimes see large flocks of robins in the trees south of the Bloor Viaduct.Yesterday (Feb 12 at 5pm) I was jogging  along the bicycle trail while it was snowing and I counted over 100 roosting in a few trees.
