Cool north-west winds and the threat of rain helped to make birding at Thickson’s Woods a bit of a challenge this morning. However, patience is a virtue and can often pay off for the determined birder, as this list indicates.

Species of note included:

White-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
House Wren
Winter Wren
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Hermit Thrush
Brown Thrasher
NASHVILLE WARBLER
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler (many)
Pine Warbler
PALM WARBLER
Eastern Towhee (x3 sightings but heard more than seen)
Chipping Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow (many)
BALTIMORE ORIOLE
