Was walking to the Old Mill subway this morning and spotted an eagle and a red-tail soaring together and looking for a thermal, just north of the Humber marshes. Didn't have my binoculars with me, but it was either an immature bald or a golden. Definitely the high point of the day, as I was on my way to work! Have been a getting a fair number of visitors to the feeder this week as well. A flock of Blue Jays cleaned me out of peanuts this morning. Have also had purple finches, white-crowned sparrows, red-wing blackbirds, the resident cardinals, goldfinches, flickers and downy woodpeckers. Anyone who wants to observe red-wing blackbirds should visit the Humber marsh, just north of the Queensway bridge. Hundreds, maybe thousands, are roosting there. It's quite a racket as I pedal home from work around 8 p.m.
