Some of the usual suspects in the following pics...there are also some red wing black birds and grackles here as well, working on getting just the right lighting to shoot them in.

We had two Turkey Vultures land on the neighbours roof for a few hours. Strange site they must have been resting, haven't seen them since.

Interesting you mention Turkey Vultures - I just saw 3 of them at the Telus building off of McCowan and the 401.  Seemed like they were chasing a Red Tail.

Anyone else noticing larger numbers of vultures now?

I've had a few White-crowned Sparrows around the feeder the last few days.

Pretty funky looking with their neo-skunk hairdoos.......

I've got at least 15 white-throated sparrows busily picking up the grass seed I tried to plant.

Can now add White Throated and White Crowned Sparrows to the mix - had too look closely to tell them apart, but really cool to see all the different types of sparrows in the backyard.

Today in the neighbours' yard, there were a pair of Yellow Warblers, a pair of Blackburnian Warblers, and a Least Flycatcher. In our yard, there were two male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a male Baltimore Oriole and 5 White-crowned Sparrows, plus the usual cast of characters. Thirty Blue Jays flew over the neighbourhood. The other day, an adult Cooper's Hawk flew through our yard and startled all the songbirds. Also, a male Kestrel perched in a neighbours' Aspen. Also earlier in the week, I had 2 Pine Siskins hanging around the nyger feeder.

I have a pretty busy backyard right now.  My husband keeps saying I don't need to go to the woods anymore.
We have 2 male rose breasted grosbeak, 1 female, 1 male balitmore oriole and  1 female, 29 blue jays (I am sure they are nesting in the yard), 1 hummingbird, 4 white crowned sparrows, a couple of pairs of cardinals (one nesting in my tree by the computer), a coopers hawk, a red tail that is flyer over now and then, plus more little guys.  Oh an a family of bunniers under the front bush and a mom and 3 babies in the back yard.  I am getting lots of practice with the camera.
