A few years back, the Charter was amended to add section 35 -- it's the section that protects our right to be ill-informed idiots. I believe it was drafted by Jason Kenney. It seemed like a good idea at the time -- the cognitively lazy do need protection but I'm thinking we went about it the wrong way and these so called "protesters" underscore my point. Section 35 of the the Charter protects their right to be ill-informed idiots but what we should have done is made citizenship tests mandatory for EVERYONE...and made it a requirement that you have to take an intensive course (and pass with 75% or better) on Canadian history and another on critical analysis (basically a reading and critical thinking course) before you get a licence to vote.

I'll bet none of these people have actually STUDIED our Constitution and Charter...and I'll bet none of them paid any interest during Canadian history classes -- publicly funded of course.

I am truly incensed that these people have hijacked the flag, particularly during the Olympics -- I'd love to fly the flag on my car in support of our athletes but I don't want anyone to think I'm supporting section 35 rights. (Insert angry shaking fist emoji here) You love this country? Study the Constitution and our history BEFORE you invoke patriotism as a rallying cry.

Don't like my opinion? Pfft....I'm done being patient and polite...(aside: we need more emojis) 8)
