Before the camera battery expired this morning it warned me but I managed a few frames before its heart stopped beating. This bird appears to be a tanager, probably a female, perhaps a juvenile because of streaking (if genuine), but I'm not certain what species. The bill seems a little heavy for a Scarlet Tanager. That leaves only Summer Tanager and Hepatic Tanager, neither species I have seen before because I don't get out much. This tanager seems kind of yellowish, not greenish, but that may just be the morning light.

Does anyone have an opinion? I mean about the tanager, not about me. In fact, is anyone even out there?

Most likely just a female Scarlet Tanager.

Oh well, I guess that this planet is uninhabited. I'll need to set a new course and visit another world that might support sentient life. Now, let me see. Which planet looks interesting? I know, ... I pick that one. Systems check. All systems are a "go". I'm off.
