Almost immediately I noticed a lot of American song sparrows chasing each other around and the air was filled with their calls. In the wooded area right next to the bluff I discovered kinglets (mostly GCK, but also a couple of RCK) as well as YRW (Yellow-rumped warblers). Unfortunately they were mostly between me and the unstable bluff and the light was coming from the lake side. Shooting into the sunlight is very frustrating. I entered the wooded area mostly in search of YBSS (Yellow-bellied sapsucker) and found two of them. Only once did one of them land on a tree close enough for me to reach with my 300mm lens and even then the angle was not very good. There were also myriad intervening branches and twigs but then that is par for the course.
