I discovered that the dead trunk sticking out of the water here in the Rouge has a hole near the top but facing the water where I can't get to observe it directly. That hole leads to a nesting cavity. The female enters the nest and the male stand close by to serve as security. I've lent my camera as a security camera at a very reasonable rate.
