In the past I used to visit Ashbridges spit/bay frequently because it proved to be a productive hot-spot.  When care giving duties brought that habit to an end I could only check eBird for reports.  Back in the day the western crescent of beach was routinely groomed with a tractor-pulled rake because it made it look neat and satisfied the maintenance contract.  Volleyball seemed to be confined to the NW tangent of the crescent.  Apparently there is now a dune habitat on the southern portion of the beach crescent, consisting of grasses and opportunistic shrubs and this development all serves as a habitat for birds.  I'm sure that the impetus behind the delightful transformation had more to do with cutting grooming costs than providing habitat.  Everything is always about money.  Nonetheless, the outcome is laudable for nature lovers.  What I'm wondering is if there is anyone on this forum (actually that almost seems like a complete sentence) that has had any experience exploring this dune habitat?  If so, is there some useful intelligence about tackling this site so that time is not wasted going about it the wrong way.  What has anyone leaned about this site, if anything, that might prompt me to visit.  Yes, I actually have the audacity to ask for help on this issue.  Although I know the secrets of the Ashbridges spit quite well, I'm ill informed about the new dune habitat, which didn't even exist the last time that I was there a few years ago.

I passed the area a few times and always wanted to see what could be hiding in the new wetlands.

Maybe I would one of the days. Will let you know if I do.
