one less dunlin on the spit

Today on the Leslie St. spit I watched a peregrine (banded) pluck and start to eat a dunlin.  Especially unfortunate for the dunlin, as it wasn't even dead yet.  This all transpired on a street light right over the road.

Lots of willow flycatchers and warbling vireos singing out there.

I did not see the chase or capture part of this drama.  I was biking and came upon the falcon already perched.

It was not easy to watch that dunlin try to get away, but a peregrine's gotta eat too.  Too bad they don't eat more ring-billed gulls.

it has bin my exsperians wile working with the peregrine's at King and Victorea sight that thay play with ring-billed gulls moor than eat them ! but yes thay do eat them from time to time ..
