I remember as a kid, finding a toad in the woods was a common experience...however, its been years since I have seen one...just wondering if anyone else has the sense that their numbers have declined... :(

.

I agree there's been a decline, but with this year's rain, they showed up more often.

I even had quite a few frogs around all summer, with no pond or stream within a 1/2 km

With all the rain today.......this "little' guy was sitting on my front step this evening.

At nearly 5" curled up.......I think I need to have my water tested

you must have some mighty big flies / crickets around your place...

I was just wondering if they were affected by the fungus / virus...(Can't recall what it is) that is affecting amphibians...and while they give me the heebie jeebies, I miss them.

i would have to say the decline of domestic frogs and toads mainly has to do with habitat loss, in late summer these toads are everywhere in the credit valley even when the ground has been dry for a while

I have seen and heard American Toads several times this year.  I explore along the Etobicoke Creek Valley and area.  Some of these sightings were when it was wet out.  I sometimes see them when I lift up rocks.
