There is a marshy spot in Port Hope by the lake, south east of the esco plant, off hwy 2 where there is plenty of activity. I have been there a couple of times this week. There were a couple of merlins there, great blue herons, plenty of waxwings and warblers along with several different shorebirds, kingfishers, ducks and a couple of teals. I saw a couple of black crowned night herons there today. An adult and a juvenile. Driving around the roads north of Port Hope I have seen at least 20 redtail hawks.
Here is a shot of the night heron for anyone interested.
Thanks, Art.
