just fine, this shot was taken after he dropped from his perch in fact he is holding onto a vole
about 6-8ins into the snow, after which two gulps the vole was gone and it jumped back to the perch.

That's a great shot! It looks like a pile of owl parts lying in the snow, but the eyes tell you the owl's okay. It's certainly not obvious to me that those wings are in any way attached to the head.
