Is this a northern flicker?

Didn't get a great closeup cause it flew off before i could get closer. Wings are brown with black spotting and a distinctive red patch on the back of its neck.

Nice capture, the red really stands out from the rest of his body and the overcast sky.

Thanks for the help.
I've never seen this type of bird before and wouldn't you know i was out today again and i seen another one in a different area. That's two in two days.
