Is this a House or Purple Finch?

These pics were taken at Humber Arboretum, there was many Cowbirds, Goldfinches some GC kinglets & a ton of Cardinals.

I find the easiest field mark for the males are the brown streaking on the flanks. It's easy to pick out from most angles in almost any light. Purple Finches don't have the streaking. For the females it's the face pattern: more specifically, the lack of one in House Finches.

Cody,To tell you the truth i don't know what birdseed they were using. i was just concentrating on the birds.
Sorry i could not help you more. I know that other places on the board they have reccomendations of what birdseed
is best to use.
