We decided to visit Earl Bales, because we haven't been there since the end of May. It was a good decision! Before we even entered the ravine, we saw a pair of Northern Harriers overhead. They looked like they were playing tag. In the same area, we saw Goldfinches, a pair of Eastern Kingbirds and lots of Cedar Waxwings. We also saw Northern Flickers, Chimney Swifts, a family of Chipping Sparrows, a single Song Sparrow, a pair of Barn Swallows, Cardinals, a Baltimore Oriole, Bue Jays, Grackles, Robins and Chickadees. There were Monarch butterflies eveywhere, plus one Swallowtail. There was one chipmunk and lots of cottontail rabbits. Earl Bales is at the corner of Sheppard and Bathurst. We bird the valley area. There is a parking lot at the end of Don River Blvd., 1 block east of Bathurst on the south side.
