There were two small flocks of Bobolink on the Spit today, the first in the field behind the guardhouse, the second about 400 metres west of the lighthouse, at the base of Peninsula A. Both flocks contained males and females and the males were singing steadily. For me, the bird of the day was a female Orchard Oriole in a mixed flock of warblers, sparrows, and blackbirds, also at the base of A.

Cell 1 contained a selection of shorebirds, including Greater Yellowlegs, Dunlin, Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, and Killdeer. These were all concentrated in the southern corner, where a lone drake Blue-winged Teal was also lurking.

A notable lack of warbler diversity today, with Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Palm, and Nashville the only species seen, at least by me, and one ovenbird heard calling.
