Greetings to all :D

Stopped off at Col Sam Smith Park on the weekend and found a pair of red-neck grebes trying to build a nest. They were having a rough start because every time they got on it, the nest would sink.

Enjoy

those poor grebes have been trying to build a nest since May! I hope they eventually succeed.
Your pictures capture the beauty of these birds. Fabulous.

Great photos! It seems the nest at Bronte Harbour has been somewhat successful with the hatch of one chick.

Beautiful shots. Looks like the mating is done so nest building will be very fast I suspect.

Poor things - I am seeing baby grebe shots from other areas - someone needs to throw them a tire to nest in!

Wonderful photos, thanks for sharing them.

there is a tire raft that was out there for them, but it seems they don't want to use it this time.  In May when I was out there the seagulls were sitting on the raft completely territorial about the whole thing and the grebes were trying to build a nest in another place.
