My husband and I took a little road trip to Ottawa this past weekend. The rainy weather kept us inside doing the "cultural stuff". On the way home Tuesday, we were finally able to get some birding in. A Birding Pal recommended Britannia Conservation Area. It was very good. We met many other birders there. We spent most of our time on the "Ridge" (with all the midges) and by Mud Lake. There were Yellow-rumped Warblers everywhere. Other warblers: male Black and White, Palm, American Redstart, Black-throated Green, Magnolia, Nashville, Chesnut -sided, Blackburnian, Canada and Ovenbird. Also, Warbling and Red-eyed Vireos, Belted Kingfishers, Grey Catbird, E. Kingbird, Tree and Barn Swallows, Chimney Swifts, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Osprey, GBH. We also stopped off at Presq'ile later in the day. We saw female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Grey Catbirds, Savannah and Song Sparrows, Belted Kingfisher, Cedar Waxwings, female Baltimore Oriole, White-breasted Nuthatch, and warblers: Nashville, Chestnut-sided, male and female Black-throated Blue, many Yellow-rumped, A. Redstart, Tennessee.
