My partner and I went for a walk in David Balfour Park today and had a nice surprise. About 1 pm, we spotted a very active Carolina Wren which watched us from prominent perches. Several Dark-eyed Juncos and Black-capped Chickadees were in the vicinity.

The park is a ravine and runs from Mount Pleasant Cemetery to the Bayview Extension. Walk east on the north side of the creek from Mount Pleasant Road until you reach lamppost #43. Look to your left way up the north slope. Near the top is a green chainlink fence and several stumps, etc. The wren was sighted on and around the fence and was responsive to pishing.

I tried to post earlier on her Blackberry but it defied me.

Tyler,
I'm not sure anymore which birds migrate and which don't . Anyway I've spotted a pair of American Tree Sparrows and a Robin in my Clarkson backyard and a pair of Red Shouldered Hawks perched in trees along the QEW - Niagara region. Spotted the hawks in flight - spring of last year.

Hey Tyler just thought i would let you know i saw the Gray Catbird on saturday in the spot i mentioned previously.  It was on the west side of the closed road about 50 metres up from the corner with the feeders.  Also seen down there were about 9 different Winter Wrens, Cedar Waxwings, lots of Robins, a flicker, a Screech-Owl in a cavity, 2 swamp sparrows, a song sparrow and lots of White-throats and Carolina Wrens.

As reported in this forum earlier by Andreas Jonsson, the Iceland Gulls are present at Ashbridge's Bay.

Male Wood Duck at Lake Aquitaine.  I sighted him today between 2-4pm swimming around with lots of Mallards in the NW corner of the lake - small patch of open water.  He was still there when I headed indoors for a hot chocolate and snack.

Jo-Anne  :D

Lake Aquitaine:  SE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Aquitaine Ave., behind Meadowvale Community Centre.

Update:  Mon. Jan. 25th ... he's still here at Lake A. and has finally bonded with a female Mallard!
