Through Bird Studies Canada, I participate in Project FeederWatch, which tracks the birds at your feeders.  This year they are looking for more volunteers to help with this study.  Participants are asked to count birds as often as two days each week from November 11 to April 6.  These counts will help scientists monitor changes in feeder bird populations.  New participants receive a research kit with easy to follow instructions, the FeederWatcher's handbook, a bird-identification poster, a calendar, and a subscription to the newsletter of Bird Studies Canada (Canada) or the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (U.S.).

For more information or to sign up in Canada, please visit http://www.bsc-eoc.org/national/pfw.html or call (888) 448-2473.  In the U.S., please visit http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/ or call (800) 843-2473.  A C$35 fee (in Canada) / US$15 (in US) makes the program possible.

I have been doing this count since 1998 and have found it very interesting.
