Harlequins at Humber Bay

I spent 2 hours at Humber Bay Park East yesterday.  The park was so busy with pedestrians that I decided to sit on the north facing point at the east end of the park for most of the visit and see if I could get some fly-by photos of ducks (see photos section).  At the end of my visit I decided to check out the south beach and the three Harlequins (one male and two females) were casually fishing along the beach, about 20 feet offshore while kids and dogs played nearby.  The sun had just peaked below the horizon and I missed what would have been a stellar photo opp by about 15 minutes.  You win some, you lose some.

Hi Iain,

Big Frank, my hubby and I were also at the park on Sunday. It really was busy and we were lucky to get a legal parking spot. We were there from 3:30-4:20 pm. We went to the south beach and saw the three Harlequin Ducks,  too. They passed right in front of us. We got great views of them feeding offshore. On the way in, while crossing the little bridge, we saw 8 American Wigeons. In one of the ponds, we saw 6 Redheads. The only thing we missed seeing was you.

Iain & Leslie - you are so lucky!  I was there about the same time Saturday and couldn't find the Harlequins.  I had checked Port Credit as well.  Sounds like you had a wonderful view.
