I did some nice birding in Hamilton this weekend (I'm from Waterdown, so it isn't much of a drive).
I saw the peregrine falcons hanging out at the Sheraton Hotel on King St. in Hamilton both Friday and Saturday. One was having quite a nice snack of....perhaps a rock pigeon?
WHO KNOWS?
Sunday I visited Cootes Paradise (for those who don't know, the far west side of lake ontario), and was very very happy to see 2 immature bald eagles along the ice on both sides of the York St. bridge. I got to see one catch a fish! Yippee! There was also a great black-backed gull hanging out far on the ice. Nice black back, gull! High five!
Other bird species seen this weekend: many cardinals, american robin, bufflehead, goldeneye, common merganser.
