Hi!  Just joined this site- first time posting- hopefully I did it right!
My son who is 11 and I were out all day participating in the Ballie birdathon which raises money for bird studies Canada.  We saw 92 species in total!

Around our house before we left (we live near Uxbridge):
Yellow bellied sapsucker
red breasted gros beaks
wood ducks- fly over
grass hopper sparrow
great crested flycatcher
wild turkey -male and female mating!- saw them in a feild on our way.  The male was in full display, very cool. He was huge!

Thickson:
black throated blue
black throated green
chestnut sided
black and white
American Redstart
yellow
yellow rumped
magnolia
black poll (pretty sure- I only saw a female, but my son insists he saw the male)
northern parula
bay breasted
Tennessee
cat bird
oriole
killdeer
white breasted nuthatch
great horned owl (always a  highlight for my son, and me!)
white throated sparrow

Second Marsh/ McGlaughlin's bay: (note I was also here on Thursday, May 13th early in the morning and saw bonapartes and Little gulls-  I waited along time to see them fly and see their dark under wings! Also there was a black tern)
gadwalls
11 great blue herons
black crowned night heron
caspian terns
ring bill gulls
trumpter swans
greater and lesser yellow legs
blue wing teals
marsh wren- building nest
swamp sparrow
purple martin
widgeon
willow flycatcher
blue grey gnat catcher
house wren
winter wren
palm warbler
nashville warbler
Summer tanager- almost 100% positivie!!  Did anyone happen to see it?
Scarlet tanager- what a gorgeous bird

Darlington Provincial park beach:
dunlin
semi-palmated plover

Cranberry marsh:
mute swans
pied billed grebe
ruddy ducks
common moorhens
buffle heads
virginia rail
sora- only heard him

In the feild area accross from the southern platform:
bank swallows
bobolinks

It was a great day
Happy birding
Brenda
