I walked from the parking lot to the foot bridge on Sunday afternoon; photographed a beautiful, fresh black swallowtail about half way on the left (lake) side of the main road. Also saw dozens of monarchs, cabbage whites, sulphurs (at least two different species), a few viceroys, summer azures and skippers. Surprisingly enough I saw only one red admiral and no painted or American ladies. I hope the increasing number of monarchs bodes well for the fall gatherings at Point Pelee because my son and I are already making plans for a PP trip in early September.
