Black-bellied or American golden plover @ W. Side Marsh

I can't be certain as to which of the two I saw from the viewing platform at the edge of the bay today. I'm leaning towards a black-bellied as I was to far away to get any defintive look at their distingusihing field marks. So based on the fact it was on the mud flats at the edge of the reeds on the north side I'm guessing??? it was a black-bellied.

Anyone else have a better idea feel free to correct me.

The bird was spotted at 11:30 am and later flew to join the cormorants, caspian terns , canada geese and gulls at the base of the third most distant platform on a relatively narrow spit, where the ospreys have again successfully nested.

An awesome surprise!
