Lake Wabukayne - Sat. Oct. 23rd

[Bird Brain]

Hi everyone.  I was walking around Lake W. today between 10:30am - 12:30pm.  Sighted the following:

Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals (m & f) - lots
Cedar Waxwings - lots
Chickadees - lots
Grackles x 2
Hairy Woodpecker (m) x 1 - going to town on a hanging bird feeder
Juncos - lots
Mallards (m & f) - lots
Mourning Doves - a few
Red-winged Blackbirds (m) x 2
Sparrows - lots
Wood Duck (m) x 1

Lake Wabukayne:  NE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Windwood Dr., behind condo and school.

I'm glad that somebody is seeing waxwings. I'm surrounded by trees full of berries and I know the robins and waxwings will show up eventually and hopefully I'll be home when they do! I think waxwings are one of the best birds to photograph since they usually show up in large numbers and as long as you don't make any sudden movements you can usually get pretty close to them (assuming they are low enough) when they're feeding on berries - maybe they get a bit drunk when the berries are old?!:)

Hi Howieh.  Sighted 60+ Cedar Waxwings, a great mix of adults and juv.  They are totally pigging out on berries!  Also, flying right in front of my face and just barely above the top of my head.   :lol:

Anyone with a camera could probably get some great shots here as some of the waxwings seem to be enjoying sitting on tree branches, right out in the open and enjoying the sun.
