I visited the Kortright Centre in Woodbridge off Pine Valley.  A first for me and a real nice place!

I saw 3 Hawks along the winding drive into the centre from Pine Valley...  guessing they were all Red Tails as they all looked similar to the photo I posted in the ID section.

Black Capped Chickadees (lots)
Blue Jays (lots)
Northern Cardinals (3)
American Robins (lots)
White Breasted Nuthatches (4)
Dark Eyed Juncos (lots)
Downy Woodpeckers (2)
Hairy Woodpecker (1)
American Goldfinches (lots)
House Finches (lots)
Mourning Doves (lots)
Belted Kingfisher (1)
some kind of Sparrow but not House Sparrows (6)

There is also a Raptor Centre with a number of Peregrines, an American Kestrel, a Bald Eagle, GH Owl and an European Eagle Owl (magnificent and huge)...  see the pic attached.

That is Bubo. He is a real beauty. It is the Canadian Peregrine Foundation Raptor Centre at Kortright. They are all educational birds. CPF does a school visit program, related to the grades 4-6 ciriculum. Done over 16000 classroom visits so far.

Cool Frank!  Nice to be able to *play* with the birds.  I was looking for information on Bubo at the centre but couldn't find anything...  you know, like why is he there, what's his story?

Boo joined the CPF Education Team in June 2001.  He is the North American cousin of the Great Horned Owl. Boo was hatched in captivity and was imprinted on humans.  His original owners had no interest in keeping him, and offered Bubo to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation.  Boo has become an important part of the CPF Education Program, helping to support the our Owl Unit.
