Hi everyone. This morning between 10-11am: Plowman's Park, 11am-12noon: Lake Wabukayne. Sighted the following:
Plowman's Park:
Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals x 4 (2m, 2f)
Chickadees - lots
Crows x 4
House Sparrows - lots
Junco x 1 (f)
Mourning Doves x 2
Red-breasted Nuthatches - lots
Robins x 9
Starlings x 150
Plowman's Park, SE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Battleford Rd. behind the seniors residence. Trail starts up about 1/2 block East of Glen Erin Dr. and runs South off Battleford Rd. down to Montevideo Rd.
Lake Wabukayne:
Blue Jays x 2
Cardinals x 8 (5m, 3f) - including one male at East end of lake, singing up a storm!
Chickadees - lots
House Sparrows - lots. Could see and hear them chirping all around the lake.
Junco x 1 (m)
Mallards x 8
Mockingbird x 1
Mourning Doves x 4
Pigeons x 10
No sign of "Woody" (male Wood Duck) today. I was looking forward to seeing my favourite guy!
11:30am ... I was NOT impressed with a large group of children and teenagers dressed like gang members, yelling, screaming and swearing at the top of their lungs at the Mallards at West end of lake. Two of the boys decided to try throwing snowballs at the Mallards. Absolutely no caring, compassion or kindness towards animals tells me everything about a person that I need to know! A large number of kids and teenagers roaming/slouching around up in Meadowvale today - day off school? Normally when I'm walking around Lake Wabukayne, it's peaceful and quiet, usually just other adults out walking and with their dogs.
Lake Wabukayne: NE corner of Glen Erin Dr./Windwood Dr., behind condo and school.
