Just love these little goofballs and their antics.

Despite their micro brains.......I truly believe they sometimes do things just for the fun of it.

I have a couple of Chickadees that deliberately fly under my deck on the way to the feeder.

Normally, this wouldn't seem odd except that there is only 8 inches of clearance between the ground and the bottom of the joists......  :shock:

Yet they make the 20 foot journey at full speed with the skill and precision of a WWII low-level strafing run.

Everyone else is content to take the "normal" un-obstructed route above the hard deck.......without breaking any major rules of engagement........ :lol:

One day I'll have to set up a camera at the exit point and take a snap shot.......it might even reveal a smile on their face as they come through......  :wink:

Chickadees are a great addition to the backyard.  We never had any until 3 years ago when a pair nested in one of our bird houses.  Since then we see more around and more often.  Six some days.

Any bird activity is nice minus the Pigeons but they do seem to draw in some big Hawks through the snowy months.  So, it's all good.

You should set up the camera and see what you photograph.  Could be something great/unique to share.

I was out at High Park earlier today and couldn't help but notice that one of the chickadees was missing its leg from the ankle down, but he seemed to be doing just fine and even came down to take seed from my hand. He hovered before landing a bit more than the others and had to work harder to balance, but he otherwise looked healthy. Remarkable little birds.

A friend of mine had a Chickadee with a leg missing around her feeders for a couple years.  Definitely remarkable little birds!
