Birding was quiet until coming back to the car then it turned frantic and delightful. At the top of the stairs west of the lodge parking lot were a Song Sparrow - White-throated Sparrow 10 Cardinals- 2 White - breasted Nuthatch - Brown Thrasher feeding on one if the posts 15 feet away and B.C. Chickadees. Walking along the pond were the Mockingbird, many Grackles -Red-winged Blackbirds and a male Sharp-shinned Hawk soaring over the tree tops in its typical "T" outline. House Sparrows are so common that it is easy to ingnore them, but a male in the sun is well worth watching. I really enjoyed watching one sitting in the sun only a few feet away. Saw three other birders on the trip.
