Went for a LONG walk today. I saw a pair of Pileated woodpeckers at Dufferin and Major Mackenzie, in the woods. It was funny to see them on the same tree, bouncing back and forth into each others pecking spots. It must have been a male and female.  While rummaging through the woods there I managed to flush out a woodcock.

I then walked to Bathurst, near Thornhill woods, and spotted a lone Pileated woodpecker that was working VERY hard on what I think was a maple tree.

There was a big pile of wood chips all around the base of this tree as this guy had pecked huge holes up and down the trunk.

I also spotted my first sighting of a flicker on the edge of Bathurst street.
