I can tell you there are a ton of people who went everyday trying to get this kind of shot (or any at all).

Thanks so much Meghan.  I've been down every weekend for about a month.  Last year, when everyone was shooting the Grebes, my lens was in at Canon.  I think I'm trying to make up for lost time :)  Hope to see you out there!

Wow, all I can say is wow!!! Congrats Moira on a beautiful rare capture.
Meghan is right everyone has been trying to get down there to get not just a shot, but a "glimpse" of this bird
I saw it way out in the lake and it was sleeping. So I didn't get to see the eye.

Thanks so much Irene.  I felt lucky to have such a good look at him.  He swam in 3 times.  The horned and red necks also came in (closer actually).  I was by myself, so maybe that had something to do with it.  I was pretty jazzed about it :)
