On Canada Day, my husband and I visited Port Perry. We drove to the causeway to see what was there. Black Terns were flying back and forth across the causeway. We also saw 6 Caspian Terns flying over the area. In the water, we saw a family of Common Loons. There were 2 adults and 2 young. Other notable birds were:

-a hunting Osprey, which was harassed by a Red-winged Blackbird
-Marsh Wrens singing in the reeds
-Belted Kingfishers
-2 Turkey Vulures overhead
-1 Double-crested Cormorant

In the downtown area, there were Chimney Swifts and Purple Martins
