Given the colder nights, should we expect to see more songbirds at Leslie Spit this weekend? Is early morning a significantly better time to go? Thanks all.

Yes, by all reports the numbers from the north should be increasing soon but I have not seen much of a change these last few days of great increases. As most songbirds and warblers are insect eaters, the early mornings are not necessarily the best time any more.  You need to be where you want to go by the time the sun has reached the trees to warm them enough so the insects start to come out.  As the temperature increases, the bird will also change areas to find the most bugs. If we get the frost they are calling for, it may not be until 9.30-10 or even later before the good bird activities starts.
