yellow budgie

We had a very unexpected visitor to our bird feeders on the weekend. A yellow budgie joined our usual crowd. It seemed less interested in actually eating the sunflower seeds and kept throwing them on the ground. It was more interested in the niger seed feeder, but couldn't actually eat any because of its beak shape.

Obviously it is an escapee. Hope it can hold its own for a while. But we figure it is an easy mark for a predator at some point.

sadly, we had a blue-green one last year that seemed to be the leader of a flock of sparrows, and they followed him everywhere. It must of been on its own for a while as it was able to fly great distances and was at easy at being outside. Most that escape have limited flight abilities due to being caged up all the time

We have had a budgie now going on 4 years this Sept., that we caught in the backyard after watching her survive out there for four months with the wild birds. It took her a while to settle in, but she's part of our home now.

I wonder some times if people just get tired of the care involved after buying one and just let them go.
