Ive been doing some reading up on them but havent had much luck finding many discussions, information on how to "attract" them to your yard other than feeders. Just wondering if theres anything more I can do.

Every year we usually see one or two over a period of a few days and then thats it nary another one. Its the same routine year in and year out. Currently I just have the one feeder but id really like to see more HGs and/or entice the few we do get to hang around a bit longer.
Is there anything that can be done other than adding another feeder, which Im not convenced will help anyways.?

Have you tried flowers?  They eat bugs too, and those provide a better habitat for critters.  I just usually go for the commercial "hummingbird and butterfly" mixes, but then my garden's in High Park so they're around anyway.  Maybe someone knows which plants they favour?

Curtsey while you\'re thinking what to say - it saves time.

Scarlet runner beans produce flowers that hummingbirds seem to like a lot. The beans are also good eating afterwards.

There's a useful article from the Kingston Field Naturalists site about attracting hummers:  http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/blu ... gbirds.pdf

Thanks for the help and link, thats given me some garden idea's. Actually had my first HB visitor last evening,  he or she did a quick flyby of my feeder. Here's hoping I can entice more of them to come around.

We have two hummingbird feeders as well as plant flowers they're attracted to.  We haven't had any hummers yet this spring, but we're waiting patiently for them.  :)
