Horned Grebe

I couldn't resist photographing him. The early morning light made him look so beautiful. No one else was around so he came within feet of me. I have learned to "sneak" up on them only when they are diving. I have found if you move closer when they are underwater then they don't seem to mind. But if you make a move when they are on the surface, they bolt pretty quick.
I never did find the Pied-Billed Grebe I was looking for, but I'll take the consolation prize.

Great shots Meghan! I love them Horned Grebes. For some reason I never saw any this year. I did look.

A birth certificate shows we were born. A death certificate shows we died. Pictures show we live.

Meghan, all pictures are good, but number 4 and 5 are killers! Excellent details and lighting.
Rob: It's not too late, there were several of them at Sam Smith yesterday.
