Lots of birds around Riverwood and Erindale Park today.
Best was a singing male Golden-winged Warbler giving amazing looks near the little bridge just South of Burnhamthorpe Rd.
18 warbler species in total, also inlcuding 1 Cape May, 2 Bay-breasted and 4 Parula along with Ovenbird, Black-and-white, Tennessee, Nashville, Redstart, Magnolia, Blackburnian, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Black-throated Blue, Palm, Pine, Yellow-rumped, and Black-throated Green. All in very low numbers - only 4 species with more than 5 individuals, the most common was Nashville with 23.
Other highlights included rather late Dark-eyed Junco and Eastern Bluebird, 8 sparrow species, 2 male Scarlet Tanagers giving excellent views, lots of Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Baltimore Oriole, and at least 15 Cliff Swallows back at their colony.
76 Species - Pretty good for somewhere with virtually no waterbirds.
