o/t Shootings IN metro Toronto area

Some of you reside in Metro, I believe
or not

How do u feel about all these shootings?
of late

and visiting the city?

I sure dont feel as safe as previous times

I live in Toronto.

The problem with the shootings is they are random, at least for the general population if not for the victims. What can you do about them as long as the criminal system keeps putting these criminals back on the street. For the Eaton Centre shooting, both victims had long criminal records with one supposed to be at home on house arrest, and I think the shooter also had a record.

I don't let it bother me; if it is going to happen it will happen. I don't live in the nicest part of town although there are much worse. The cops come and visit the building next door at least twice a week of moving here there were two gang-related shootings at the main intersection. I choose not to let the criminals force me to stay indoors.

Toronto is not as safe as it was 20 years ago but it is a far cry from most American cities.

I have to agree with Paul. If you take a look at recent crime stats you find that the 'safe' suburbs aren't. Crime stats in suburban and rural areas also aren't as safe as perceived. It sometimes seems Toronto is unsafe because it is a major centre and a victim of it's own scutiny.

I too live in Toronto and I don't feel threatened by all the shooting reports. If you follow-up on the news reports you'll find that very seldom the victims are innocent (although friends and families ALWAYS claim them to be such good folks). Contrary to Paul's take, I find that the shootings are anything but random. Seldom will you hear of someone getting shot or shot at having no ties to the shooter(s). There is of course the danger of being at the wrong place at the right time and getting hit by a stray bullet but the chances of that are statistically minuscule (although we all know that this has happened). I will agree with Ron's statement that when we talk about Toronto we must include the suburbs in terms of shootings as they are no more or no less likely there as per recent trends.

there have been afew

lady think it was North York area
now in wheelchair

and then the case of the lady
at the Cafe  Just Desserts some years ago

these things we can never know
like some freak accidents

o/t  Guess you heard of the teacher in Scarborough who had all the trouble
with some kids, he went through a lot of hurdles for sure

I believe the police now have someone in custody or something
