On Sat. evening a bird hit the window at the cottage near Minden , and hard too . I went outside and found a pine warbler stunned in the grass . I put it up high on a ledge hoping it would recover but it spent the night there . The bird was gone in the morning and we hoped everything was ok . Then my friend found it hopping down the hill unable to fly . I put it in a shoe box and after a few frustrating calls I found Monika at the Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary near Carnarvon .That is where the bird is now and doing fine ,she said the wing is broken but since it's not hanging there is no need for taping and should be ready to go in 3 weeks . So if everything goes according to plan it will be released near the cottage and get strong enough in time for the migration south .
If you are in the area and need help with injured or orphaned wildlife they may be able to help .

Thanks Monika for the help .

Well there is very good news indeed . After 3 weeks of R&R and mealworms , we brought the warbler back and released him . He flew to the top of the first pine after getting his bearings .

Thanks to Monika at the Woodland Wildlife Sanctuary and good luck with the porcupine shelter for Quill .
