There is a large and growing flock of Mute Swans at Rotary Park (2 blocks east of Sam Smith Park).  Yesterday I counted over 100.

You can usually see most of the flock from Sam Smith Park, but if you visit Rotary Park, it is probably one of the best places in Toronto to find Purple Martins.  There are active martin houses on both sides of the park.  Between Rotary and Sam Smith Parks, it is possible to find all 6 swallow species.  I was surprised to find several Bank Swallows there last week.  I don't think they're breeding anywhere nearby.

Also of note yesterday was a female Common Merganser at CSSP, in front of the filtration plant.
