I was sitting on my back deck at about 10 this morning, in the dappled shade between trees, when a small bright yellow chest appeared in the lilac bush in front of me. I suddenly realized there was a small flock of mixed warblers chipping and flitting around. Between guides (esp the distribution-by-month charts in Goodwin's A Birdfinding guide to the Toronto Region) I figured I might be seeing Blackburnian and Pine and Magnolia, and when I saw Molebird posting a list of warblers including these, also from today, I felt pretty good about my sightings.
Planning to go check out Hoggs Hollow at dawn tomorrow, and see what might be shaking over there. I think warblers should be peaking early in the day, so...
