A recent visit to Oakbank Pond found the following denizens:

1) Great Blue Heron skulking around in the back far from the viewing platform;

2) The usual red-winged blackbirds and Canada Geese;

3) Momma and one young Wood Duck - I saw the male Wood Duck here in the Spring, but he has not been seen since.  Does anyone have any knowledge of their mating patterns to explain this?

4) Some identified ducks, that might be an Black/Mallard hybrid - would appreciate any help figuring it out;

5) Some painted turtles - though I think I saw a map turtle there in late May if that's is possible.

Greetings :D

I was there last weekend and saw two famlies of wood ducks. Only found 1 male wood duck in the pond and as many as 10 chicks with the females. This is the third year that I've see famlies of wood ducks here. Great spot to get photos of the famlies and the blue heron. I also have seen 2 green herons there as well.
Enjoy

Good birding to all
