I was heading up Hwy 37 from Belleville to Tweed, when I saw a very large bird with dark wings flying beside the road. I thought it was a heron, until I got close enough to see that there was no folded neck, but instead an all-black bird with a face that narrowed to a point - much too large for a crow, and with no break in the face before the beak - a common raven. Common yes, but a little unusual where I live, in Toronto.
