While searching online for a resource to confirm identity of a bird at my feeder I came across your discussion board and joined.  I have enjoyed watching and feeding birds for many years and am by no means an expert.  I know most of the regular birds but when this one showed up at my feeder last week it took me a while to identify.  It was confirmed by a gentleman and colleagues that I contacted through Lambton Wildlife.  I am not sure how it got to my feeder in Elmvale since it is a native to Africa, I can only assume it's an escapee.  I first thought it was a brightly coloured Evening Grosbeak but they usually arrive in groups and this guy was definitely on his own. I have a number of not so good pictures and I did manage to get a couple of videos that I spliced together and have uploaded to YouTube.  Here is a link:

Cool! I checked Bird Kingdom, but they seem to only have Village Weavers, so I don't think it was one of theirs. Maybe some one will find it thanks to your post, if it was a house pet.
