Three female Red-breasted mergansers in the mouth of the Credit
and 11 Buffleheads ( 5 male, 6 female) in the pond at Saddington Park

A nasty goose was giving them some grief!

Nice pictures.
I think the females are Common Mergansers, the bill doesn't look super-thin and the border between brown and white looks fairly defined.

Thomas, I'm sticking with Red-breasted. Note the double "rough" crest on head and the white patch on the wing (previous pic). Also, the rusty colour on the head seems to "blend" into the neck colour with no definate transition as in common merganser.
