Healthy folks, I'd heard for a while about Halls Rd. in Whitby but had no idea there was a celebrity Barred Owl living there. I visited the site 3 times last week and met some lovely people and some truly odious people. Such is life. I'm proud to report that I almost got into a fight but backed away in the end from the poor sad man. How anyone could behave so badly while owl watching is beyond my understanding! Moving along now, I will tell you also that I was fortunate to spend a minute, on-and-off, watching this Boreal Chickadee, a semi-rare visitor from the North. This picture was the best one I managed; unfortunately the light was far from flattering. If a poor musician blames his instrument does also a poor photographer blame "his" light? Bingo!

Your "instrument" seems to be well tuned, very nice.

Let me add also that there is at least a fair chance that the owlhunters I found so hateful perhaps didn't think I was a picnic myself!

Nice photo of this guy.  I heard him on Monday and made mention to some photographers about him being above us in the trees but no one seemed to care.  A Boreal Chickadee in the GTA is far rarer than a Barred Owl.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.

Great shot! Far more interesting than a classic pose.  It may not be tack sharp, (or maybe it is, I can't tell on my phone) but it's a great image.

But far more difficult to photograph than a cooperative Barred Owl!

Nice one, and a first I believe for this site! I was there today, but wasn't able to find the Boreal among the masses of Black-capped Chickadees. Got the Barred Owl though, which was nice.
