I've spotted him twice in the past 3 weeks. more visible than before, but man, he hates people. there is also a 2nd GHO, i believe, at the Spit. saw 2 owls chasing each other and it seemed to be friendly chasing, not "i'm gonna eat your back muscles" chasing.

horrible conditions to shoot. somehow got a good photo.

Very nice Richard, looks like his left 'horn' is blowin' in the wind! Was he in the usual spot (yes or no is sufficient because I know where it is). Btw, where did you see the crossbills?  I haven't had much chance to play with my new toy (A Canon SX50) but it should come in handy for shooting offshore ducks. Not exactly a DSLR but really better than I expected, hand holding at 50X requires practice but pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Btw, I was on the spit last week and stepped in a (hidden?) burrow so I may not get back there for a while. Great shots, keep posting.

Thanks BoboBird, fortunately I didn't twist it but I did manage to make hard contact with the only spot on my left foot that was already injured (figures, doesn't it!). It's getting better but I'm still walking funny so hopefully I won't mess up my right hip. So I had some work done on my car, drove down Dufferin to pick up my wife, had to pass the entrance to Ross Lord Park, decided to drive in and wouldn't you know it, about halfway to the parking lot there's a large redtail hawk sitting in a great spot and for the first time in weeks I didn't have a camera with me - and I now have TWO long zoom P&S cameras - lesson learned!

Good to hear it is not too bad.

RTH - happens all the time, just have to be equipped and vigilant. Last summer same thing, Hawk with just caught rabbit not 20 yards in front of me on someone's lawn. Driving so could not just suddenly stop.
